A Place Where Art Education is Discussed and Explored!

Meet SBMA Faculty Member, Stefanie Buysse

Stefanie Buysse joins SBMA faculty for Summer 2012.

Stefanie Buysse has been an artist for as long as she can remember, but jewelry became a special interest in the 90’s.  About 10 years ago, she developed strong ambitions to make jewelry and sell it for a living.  Her first class in silversmith work was at SBMA and has she recalls, “I was hooked! Soon after taking the class I began exploring PMC (Precious Metal Clay) and started incorporating both jewelry techniques into my designs.”

Since 2010, Stefanie has been teaching the art of jewelry making in her Mishawaka studio, Art + Elements, formerly Interior Elements & Design.  The role of teacher has been one that has truly suited her, and we already know that SBMA students who enroll in her course this summer are going to be taken with Stefanie’s enthusiasm and expertise: “I want my students to leave this beginner class with enough knowledge to allow them to create additional jewelry designs with as much confidence as possible.”

SBMA is also happy to welcome one of Stefanie’s other creations, her son, who will be enrolled in a youth class this fall.  As a mother of three, Stefanie encourages her children to explore their creativity through art, and has brought her daughters to SBMA for classes in the past.  “SBMA is a great facility that our area has to offer,” she reflects.

We know that we’ll have a lot more to offer now that Stefanie’s on board.
